ECW in danger of loosing spot on tv?

September 16, 2009 - 7:17 pm 8 Comments

In what could not be a good sign for ECW, WWE has announced that effective immediately all ECW episodes will be steamed on their web site. Their deal with the Sci Fi Network is up at the end of 2007, thus things don’t look good for renewal.

Originally ECW was scheduled to be re-launched under Shane McMahon whose vision was to run ECW TV on WWE.com. However when Vince got behind it, he suggested a much larger television audience. ECW started off with strong ratings, but it has decreased steadily over time.

With the announcement yesterday that SmackDown superstars will be appearing on ECW television it is likely the brand will slowly crawl towards something similar to WWE.com’s Heat and lose whatever specific identity is still left.

I HAD A FEALING IT WASNT GONNA LAST LONG ANYWAYS SO R.I.P ECW

Yes. ECW was in danger even before Vince and Shane took it over. It’s now simply a launching vehicle to develop new talent and it will only survive on wwe.com for as long as ShaneO can drain every cent out of it.

They Should’nt have started it in the first place.

I think that they could have helped by actually making it xtream and getting more than just one freakin title.

All of their ideas are now wasted visions of the future.

im not surprised. it was only a matter of time. They should have added more title and not have fired all the originals.

They will probably just have ECW on wwe.com and put the really good ECW superstars like CM Punk, Big Daddy V, and John Morrison on SmackDown which is probably why they had SmackDown superstars on ECW last night. The reason I name Big Daddy V is because he now has a feud with Kane that will probably be built up on SmackDown. They might only defend the ECW title on SmackDown or PPV’s if it is only on wwe.com. I really don’t know what happens to the tittle if it does only show on wwe.com. Only time will tell.
