When WWE launches their own network do you think they will have a WWE Cribs?

Probably. If WWE has done parodies with Guest Hosts, anything is possible. Their version of Cribs might be interesting though, if they get it with the right WWE Superstars.

Harry Potter ’still in my head’ – Rowling
Reuters
Last updated 09:40 02/10/2010

Author JK Rowling told US television talk show host Oprah Winfrey she cried uncontrollably when she finished the last of her best-selling Harry Potter books, but did not rule out writing another one.

“I’m not saying I won’t. I love writing them,” the 45-year-old British author told Winfrey in a videotaped interview at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, that aired on ABC TV on Friday.

Rowling, who only rarely gives interviews, said the characters are “in my head still.”

She added that she had always wanted to be a writer and knew she could tell a story but needed the right subject. Inspiration struck while she was on a delayed London-bound train, but she found herself without a pen. Eventually, the words poured out.

“I have to write for my own mental health. I need to write. I love it, I need to do it,” she said, citing the discipline and structure writing gives her.

In an hourlong interview, shown with picturesque shots of Scotland’s countryside and of Edinburgh, Rowling and Winfrey shared sentiments about the vagaries of fame, being self-made billionaires, and ending a phase in their lives.

Winfrey will halt her 25-year run atop the TV talk show heap when she launches her OWN cable network at the end of this year. Rowling had plotted out the end of her book series down to the last line of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” a publishing phenomenon in 2007.

“It was a bereavement. It was huge. Although I knew it was coming,” Rowling said. “Initially I was elated, but then I cried like I haven’t cried since my mother died.”

Rowling pronounced herself happy after bouts with clinical depression that deepened in her 20s, and then after contending with phobia that struck along with her new-found fame.

“At the time, I had to deny how great the pressure was,” she said. “It shouldn’t have happened, this was a children’s book.”

“There came a point where it was crazy,” she said.

She compared the adulation during a second US book tour as “Beatles-esque,” except that members of that 1960s band could “turn to each other – I had no one to turn to.”

“I kept saying to people, ‘Yeah, I’m coping’ … but the truth was there were times when I was barely hanging on by a thread.”

“I’m a writer. They’re never going to want pictures of me on the beach in a bikini. I was never prepared for it,” she added.

Rowling said she was grateful for the fans of Harry Potter – the series has sold more than 400 million copies and the movies made from each book have together grossed $US5.3 billion ($NZ4.69 billion) so far.
Ad Feedback

But the outgrowth of Harry Potter merchandise and theme parks could be a lot worse, she said, noting she nixed pop star Michael Jackson’s idea of making a Harry Potter musical.

The Potter series was published in Britain by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and in the United States by Scholastic Inc.

Ps: I watched "The Half-Blood Prince" and was kind of disappointed to be honest.
*feels the tomatoes hit her* I actually fell asleep during it sorry.
*exits stage left to avoid more vegetable torture*

Yeah read it this morning! It’s….idk. I don’t wanna get my hopes up. I doubt she will continue the series. But the fact that she could is really surprising.

wrestling fans What are your thoughts on this article?

October 14, 2010 - 10:29 pm 5 Comments

According to Pwinsider.com, a new wrestling promotion is starting up out of Florida. The promotion, which has quietly been putting together a business plan, is said to have major financial backing. The new promotion is already signing wrestlers up, and along with the contracts, are having them sign confidentiality agreements.

There is no name known for the promotion at this time, but it is known that they will not actively do anything until the fall. A full promotional launch is expected at the beginning of 2011, As of this time, there is no information of TV deals or TV tapings.

Businessman Peter Karoftis is said to be the main backer for the promotion. Karoftis previously worked with Sterling Equities, which is a New York-based investment firm that owns The New York Mets organization, the SNY cable network, and several real estate and investment companies. Karoftis, along with Florida independent wrestler Sean Davis are said to be the core of the company right now.

Also working with the company are Kevin Kleinrock (Viva La Lucha, Wrestling Society X), Cody Michaels (WSX, XPW) and Mister Saint Laurent (longtime Florida promoter). Kleinrock will be working production, while it is expected that Laurent will work on the creative end. Laurent has previously promoted the "I Believe In Wrestling" company, and there may be a crossover between the new company and the "I Believe In Wrestling" talent and wrestling school.

As of this time, the only confirmed name to sign with the company is Sean Waltman. Many wrestlers asked about the company have declined comment, due to the confidentiality agreements.

http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/145293/New-Wrestling-Company-Starting-Up-In-Florida.htm

Some new names that I’ve confirmed are signed to the Florida start-up promotion in the last week or so are Booker T, Paul London, Rocky Romero, Sonjay Dutt, Super Crazy, Hijo Del Rey Misterio and 2 Cold Scorpio. I am told that there are some other younger talents who have signed as well, but I haven’t confirmed any names yet. There’s been a strong rumor in the last 24 hours that some top Ring of Honor talents may have signed here as well, but I cannot confirm that at this time.

I am also told that the contracts signed by talent do not officially take hold until this October. So, that it appears to be when the project is going to officially launch – at least in terms of when the first tapings look to be taking place. As of today, there are no set dates for the tapings or even a location for said taping.

Any talk that the promotion is going to simply be a Florida-based company is just that – they are planning for a much grander scope in terms of their goals. The plan is to do tapings and try and find a national television outlet. I am told that everyone involved realizes the reality of the situation and that no one is expecting a deal to fall in their lap overnight. Based on what I am hearing, I don’t believe the promotion is looking to buy themselves timeslots either, a strategy that has led to many an early death for pro wrestling companies.

One of the reasons the company has been so secretive about letting names out and launching is that they don’t want there to be a huge buzz or hype, feeling it will leave fans waiting for them to get going while their main focus right now has been building the company’s infrastructure. I am told one of the things the company has been working on is setting up benefits for the wrestlers. The story being told among those who are signed is that everyone involved will receive full medical benefits as well as a 401K and stock options in the company, so if the group takes off, everyone shares in that success. I am told that was something Milton Wilpon has pushed after hearing some of the stories from older talents about how they have been treated over the years. If all that comes together, it’s certainly a great idea.

Maybe they will be like wcw with all the money they have I think they can sign some huge names and maybe even some guys we never heard of before. I heard they were talking about bringing in Mr. Anderson but I hope that’s not true because he is like tna’s scsa. But who knows hopefully they put a show on Wednesday nights so we can watch wrestling 5 nights a week.

Why the heck is Apple Inc. ignoring India?

October 12, 2010 - 9:53 am 1 Comment

India has never been an important market for Apple. During the early ’90s when I was fresh in the advertising business, Macs ruled the Creative & Studio Departments of advertising agencies. Even then, the onus of marketing and servicing Macs was on the local re-seller. There wasn’t much of a concerted effort from Apple. Later, PC’s became pretty much the norm for graphics, Office Suites and everything else. Today, it’s common to find seasoned Art Directors being comfortable only on a Windows PC. Yes, there are Macs in Studios and Art Departments but it’s more an exception than the norm – chief culprit being the high price of the Mac.

Then came the iPod which introduced Apple and it’s ecosystem to a whole new generation. And with much friendlier pricing, Macbook’s have an appeal to a potentially large audience. Apple re-sellers have mushroomed in major cities. So in terms of a product portfolio, at the high end they have iMacs, Macbook Pros and iPhone. At the popular pricing level, they have a few iPods and the Macbook. Add to it, a fantastic OS in Snow Leopard and accessories like Magic Mouse, the Apple portfolio is extremely appealing. And there is a retail network of sorts in place. Yet we all know that Apple is virtually a non-player in India – be it in mobile phones, desktops or laptops. The reason is not hard to seek: Apple is simply not interested in India.

It’s a litany of woes for the Apple fan in India:

- iPhone: a right royal pricing mess. It was DOA as far as India was concerned with that kind of pricing

- no signs of iPhone 3Gs: this despite the promise made by Phil Schiller in Jan ‘09 that the iPhone 3Gs will be launched in Aug 09 here. The Apple re-sellers haven’t a clue and they keep giving fresh dates of launch every time you ask them.

- no music on the iTunes India store: it’s moronic, to say the least, that in one of the world’s most music-rich countries, iTunes doesn’t offer music

- every major Apple product released in the US doesn’t find it’s way here: the Magic Mouse being a case in point. It is still available on a ‘pre-order basis’ at the re-sellers.

- Apple India’s Customer Support sucks

Apple may not have huge market share or value ambitions from the Desktop/laptop market in India. They will never be able to compete with local manufacturers, assemblers on price. Plus, category dynamics are so stacked up against Apple. A market ruled by Microsoft, ubiquity of pirated software, ignorance of what Apple’s integrated approach really is, apathy towards Apple – there are enough reasons for Apple’s poor chances of success in India.

With iPhone, I think they have a chance of generating huge volumes and value in India, if – and it’s a big if – Apple chooses to do so. India is far ahead of the US in many ways when it comes to the telecom market – we are a lot more demanding from our handset and service provider -the dynamics of the category are different here. Despite iPhone’s flaws – perceived or otherwise, I feel it was the best bet Apple had to broad-base their appeal. One of the big reasons for it’s success in the West – the App Store would have been a great advantage here. Even abroad, that advantage can dwindle any time. If Apple has 100,000 apps today, it’s a matter of time before the Android, Blackberry and Ovi stores populate their stores with large numbers. The fortress Apple built around the iPhone is not impregnable.

Taking a cue from Apple’s App Store all the big boys have launched India-specific app stores. Nokia, Aircel (Pocketapps), Airtel (App Central), Blackerry – they all have their app stores. It’s a matter of time before India/city-specific apps come into the picture, with an ability to pay through local currency… maybe even through iTunes-like accounts. When that happens, any potential advantage the iPhone had would disappear.

With a mobile population of 500mn and counting, India is a mouth watering prospect for telecom marketers. And the potential of VAS and ARPU is yet to be realized fully. But the bigger opportunity lies elsewhere. It is well documented that the classic pyramidal structure of Indian consumer markets will change to accommodate the bulging middle class (the Aspirers) in the near future.

The estimated size of the Aspirer’s market is 124mn households. Agreed, not all of them may be potential customers for the iPhone. But with the right kind of pricing, a chunk of the Aspirers could be. This group, while being price sensitive is characterized by seeing premium experiences at popular prices. For them, the likeliest port of call when it comes to smartphones is unlikely to be an iPhone, given the marketing (or the lack of it) here in India.
It is unlikely that Apple isn’t aware of the attraction of India, as a market. But they deliberately seem to be ignoring it. If and when they plan to make a fist of it here (with the iPhone perhaps, given the mobile population here), it may be too late. The competition seems to have the ‘will to win’ and is backing it up with action. They are smarter, agile and getting ahead of Apple. Does Apple care?
The initial argument was that, the lack of availability of the 3G spectrum in India is "stopping Apple" to consider it a serious market!!! How outlandish! These guys don’t consider the second largest telecom market in the world as "serious"??? I smell American superiority complex! Oh by the way we DO have 3G now! So what is "stopping" Apple now? Smart phones that cost more than India have been sold more than the iPhone SEVERAL HUNDRED TIMES!
With a solid presence in China, it is quite obvious that Apple Inc. is simply ignoring India, A HUGE HUGE MARKET! No wonder Apple is beginning to lose its charm! They could have easily bought a few more years of dominance if they had a good presence in India! There is a SUPER MONSTROUS FAN FOLLOWING HERE! If they take our market seriously people WILL BUY THEIR PRODUCTS!
Also about iTunes. I think everybody outside th US knows what a big joke iTunes is! The Indian music and movie is way larger than Hollywood! If they have reasonable prices for music and movies iTunes can be a major hit here! For movies Apple can conceive ties with moserbaer (India), which sell latest movies on DVDs for not over $4!!! For original music there is much prospect for Both American and Indian music that can be sold on iTunes! Apple can make hefty profits here! The market is virtually BLANK! So what’s the deal with them?

they took all our jobs. gir.

Dozens of radio stations shut down in Venezuela Story Highlights
Venezuela government takes dozens of radio stations off air
Venezuela President Hugo Chavez has cracked down on local media

(CNN) — At least 34 private radio stations in Venezuela were closed indefinitely Friday, and 206 more were at risk of being shut down, a government official said.

The stations were closed for various reasons, including expired permits and operation by unauthorized personnel, said Diosdado Cabello, minister of Public Works and Housing.

"Freedom of expression is not the most sacred freedom," Cabello was quoted as saying by CNN affiliate Globovision.

Cabello said the closings affected at least 11 states nationwide and 206 additional stations would shut down in the coming days.

Most station owners said the closures were politically motivated. The government of leftist President Hugo Chavez has cracked down on the media.

A "Special Bill Against Media Crimes" was introduced before the National Assembly this week, Cabello said, adding that he hoped the bill would pass.

The government has also heightened its battle against Globovision, the only critical private broadcaster in the nation. In June, it launched a fifth investigation into the network.

In early June, officials arrived at Globovision to accuse the station of not paying about $2.3 million in taxes for certain advertisements it aired in 2002 and 2003.

A few hours before, the government raided the home of Globovision President Guillermo Zuloaga, an avid hunter, to see whether he had killed any protected animals. It was the second raid on Zuloaga’s home in two weeks.

"This is something to try to scare Globovision, to silence Globovision, something they are not going to achieve," Zuloaga said at the time.

RCTV, another independent station that criticized Chavez, lost its broadcast license two years ago. It had to go off the public airwaves and transmit solely on cable.

Other TV stations hung on to their frequencies by adjusting their editorial line, the Reporters Without Borders press organization said in its 2009 World Report.

Venezuelan officials have repeatedly denied any political motives. Chavez has labeled as "terrorists" any TV station owners who criticize the government.

You answer your own question.
Marxist Dictators.

However, I don’t mind your post (being a REAL democrat who prizes free speech and freedom of the press) because someone has to always keep the subject alive to prevent us from ever becoming socialist, communist, Marxist, or anything of the sort.

Sure would like to have my party back. They have four years. After that we are looking at either the death of socialism in the world, or the beginning of the Socialist Paradise (No, thanks, don’t want it).

For The First Time Ever In English, Explosive New Show Premieres On MTV2 Friday, July 16 at 10pm ET/PT with An Encore Presentation on Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más Saturday, July 17 at 10pm ET/PT

Featuring amazing aerial acrobatics and signature masks that have become global symbols of this extreme Mexican sport, Lucha Libre has become an iconic part of the country’s rich culture for over 75 years and continues to be the best-attended live sporting event after soccer. Like no other wrestling show before it, this groundbreaking series on MTV2 and Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más will deliver this raucous, masked wrestling phenomenon that has developed into a cult following around the world.

Each week, Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors will feature explosive, hard-hitting action from some of the biggest names in the sport including Tinieblas Jr, Marco Corleone, Lizmark Jr., Mascarita Dorada and many more. Additionally, this show marks the first time ever that an American Lucha Libre league has been formed with the Luchadores competing for a U.S. belt and title.

Steven Ship and Louis Silverstein, Managing Directors of Lucha Libre USA, and Tom Mazza, EVP Head of Worldwide TV, Cookie Jar Entertainment, will serve as executive producers of the series. Chris McCarthy, Eric Conte and Paul Ricci are Executive Producers for MTV2.

About Lucha Libre

Lucha Libre is an art form, much beloved by Latino culture. It sells millions of tickets to a mass audience composed of families from across the socioeconomic strata. Lucha Libre USA’s mission is to introduce Americans to the global phenomenon that is Mexican wrestling. Lucha Libre USA regularly produces live events in major US venues.

About MTV2

MTV2 is a man’s best friend, available in nearly 80 million homes and with the highest concentration of males 12-24 and 12-34 on TV today. A vibrant mix of music, lifestyle and action sports programming, MTV2 has reflected the habits and behavior of young people since its launch in 1996. MTV2 is part of MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom, one of the world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms.

About Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más

Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más, owned and operated by MTV Networks Latin America, reaches 7.4 million Hispanic TV households (58% of US Hispanic Total TV HH) and 39 million total TV households. The network’s programming embraces the trilogy of cultures that represents Latino life – Latin American plus American equals US Latino – through original productions, key acquisitions, and content from MTV Networks’ portfolio of entertainment brands. Tr3s embraces the key lifestyle aspects of Latino identity — milestones, making it and music — as well as social responsibility through its initiative “Agentes de Cambio”, which tackles issues that affect Latinos today. The network also taps into the growing number of Latinos that are digitally connected thru www.tr3s.com

Bad, but not its not its fault. It is doomed not because of talent or anything, but because it is on MTV2. That’s gonna ruin it. Those guys won’t know what to do with a wrestling promotion…. remember WSX or whatever it was called? The screwed up big time there.
