How would a WWE Television Network-work?

Vince McMahon is making plans to launch a WWE Television Network in 2011. What I don’t understand is how would this entire network actually operate? They would need to air shows 24/7, 365 days a year and they surely dont have near enough footage or possible programs to fill the time.

Third Of Five is right. Vince McMahon owns enough tape libraries from the dozens of promotions he put out of business in the 80’s and 90’s to be able to sustain an entire Network channel for years and years. But it wouldn’t be a different show every hour (or two); the shows would get repeated several times throughout a day, I would imagine, so as to not exhaust his inventory for a long time.

I’m thinking such a venture would expand on wwe.com’s "Classics on Demand" (I think it’s called), in that Vince would charge a subscription rate to access this channel to see all of this wrestling history. It would be like a permanent PPV channel, where you pay for a month’s programming (or longer) at once. I would imagine there would be non-WWE PPV events (such as Starrcade and Super Clash) in the mix, as well. Depending on the subscription price, this would be a very worthwhile thing for fans of wrestling history, and those curious about other promotions, wrestlers, and events they’ve only heard about but haven’t seen.

The WWE owns rights to wrestling shows from the old WCW, the old NWA, AWA, ECW, many other wrestling feds that dont exist anymore. More than likely the channel would show quite a bit of classic wrestling from these feds. Think about it, you could get to watch the NWOs creation all over again, or the original Four Horsemen from back in the 80s. Quite a bit of stuff that you probably never saw or even heard of. They also might show some of the movies or TV shows that WWE stars have been in over the years.

I imagine they would repeat RAW, Smackdown, NXT and Superstars several times throughout the week along with some form of archival footage from past PPVs and shows. They also could show things regarding the SVR video games, charity work and so on. Santino Marella is supposedly starring in a sitcom so that could be repeated as well. They could also show previews for PPVs and feature shows from other networks to fill in the gaps. Other than that I see a lot of commercials being shown.

WWE owns ALL OF THE VIDEO FOOTAGE of AWA, World Class, WCW, so along with new original programming so I don’t see why it can’t put 10 hours of programming on and just loop it….

Are you kidding me they have tons of footage from WCW, NWA, WWF and WCW. When they ran all that footage, they are gonna show reruns i guess.

Using all the old film from the other associations. At the moment I think WWE Vintage is their best programme, except they still blur outn the violence to keep the PG rating. If this does take off, hopefully the PG rating will only apply to certain programmes and not the whole channel. It would bve great to see the real oldies like Tex McKenzie, Killer Karl Kox, Haystacks Calhoun.
