How can I restrict PCs on a network from accessing WOW servers without restricting general internet access?

My sons love WOW (World of Warcraft – online game) but will play it obsessively if not checked. I would like to restrict their access to this game, while still allowing internet access, such that they can use the PCs to get their homework done, but won’t be tempted to go back online to WOW.

My Linksys router allows restrictions by time of day, specific URLs, and by keywords. WOW itself is launched via an executable file on the PC, and then connects to the internet, but it is unclear as to where it connects (the whole screen is consumed by WOW so no URLs are visible). I also know that my kids connect to different WOW servers from time to time, but I assume that they are routed via a central WOW server of some sort. I’ve checked the Linksys forums, spoken with their tech support, and checked the WOW forums — no luck.

If you can answer this question, you will be my hero (and the hero of many parents out there).

Thanks in advance.

Configure your Windows firewall (or the firewall on your router to block ports 3724, 6112 , 6881 to 6999. WOW communicates on these ports…

Try to change the access of wow.exe in your firewall control panel. 2. WoW connect through urls Ex. myserver.wow.com If you can deny the application access to the internet you win. I use 3com and I can block programs from using the internet without blocking other programs.

if you can figure out the there password and account name theres parental controls that can be set on the site under account management and if they wont tell you being the guardian of the child you may phone blizzard entertainment and probably get the password after a few questions are asked if that doesnt work then im not sure
