Who is watching the Cooking Channel?

June 6, 2010 - 3:47 am 2 Comments

Today is the first day for this new network…Fine Living was axed to make room for this. I’m watching now, and as I suspected, it is like when MTV started getting into lifestyle shows instead of music videos, they launched MTV2 to keep videos on the air. Now Food Network has launched her baby sister…Cooking Channel, for instructional programming rather than competition and travel shows about food, which is where FN seems to be going.

I was disappointed to find when I set up my DVR, that some of the shows are previously aired, so borrowed/bought from other channels, I guess worldwide channels. I suppose I was a bit naive to think they would film a bunch of original shows for a new channel. Lots of international influences now! I kind of like it now that I have my attitude adjusted!

I can tell now, that I will have to get familiar with eyeballing metric measurements, as I usually squirrel away ideas, rather than whole recipes. I bet if there is a recipe database at their website, I can convert too. It is just strange! 200 degree oven never does anything at my house! hahha!

So what do you all think, are you watching?

may be i can have a look

Why don’t network show give Reality TV Shows to Black people who are not already famous?

May 26, 2010 - 1:01 pm 2 Comments

I noticed that Networks like, History CH, Discovery CH, A&E and SY-FI do not give blacks Reality Shows as they do for whites who are not considered famous prior to shows being launched. Examples: Dog, All-Ghost Hunters Shows, American Pickers, Pawn Shop and the list goes on. However they only give show to blacks that are famous prior to show being launched. Example: The TO show, Mike Tyson, James Bubba Stewart and so on. Why is this? Does anyone think that American Networks are being racist by not offering unknown black talent to become famous in the Reality Show world as they clearly do for whites? Below is an example of what I mean.

The networks don’t give out reality shows. They choose from shows that are pitched to them by producers. Apparently no one with that kind of clout is pitching shows that feature unknown African Americans. Maybe black power brokers like P Diddy and Spike Lee would rather focus their energy somewhere else. Or maybe they just think reality tv is a big joke.

Do you think that Adult Swim block hours should not be on CartoonNetwork?Instead have it’s own channel?

May 8, 2010 - 5:29 pm 4 Comments

I have been wondering lately, how the world is changing, each time more profane, sexual stuff on television especially on kids television networks i.e Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc..

I remember back throughout the 90s and early 00s watching cartoon network with my younger brother and sister, there was no profanity. But that all changed in Aug-Sept 2001 when cartoon network launched adult swim.

I remember when cartoon network first launched in 1992 the theme was "24 hour cartoons".

It’s the same thing for MTV "music" now it’s these stupid dull reality shows, when actually it’s not reality of the celebrities life.

I liked the old Nickelodeon 1980s-early 00s. Now you see these dull preteen shoes i.e iCarly.
It was better when it showed "You can’t do that on Television", and much more.

The bottom line is I think that Cartoon Network should be the same way as it was 17-12years ago. And make up a separate channel called Adult Swim Network where it would show shows like Family Guy, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin 3rd etc.

I agree,While i love Adult Swim and the majority of its programming, i also feel that there are alot of parents that let their kids watch cartoons before bed and if they woke up in the middle of the night to adult swim they could definitely be in for a shock(or scare). While this could be blamed on parenting,i still think that some people may not know the content of the cartoons that come on when the sun goes down,it would be safer to air them on a separate network.

Does Time Warner’s new agreement with Viacom mean they will start carrying VH1 Soul, MTV Jams and MTV Hits?

October 15, 2009 - 8:30 am 1 Comment

On December 31, Time Warner Cable reached an eleventh-hour agreement to continue carrying Viacom’s cable networks. Does anyone know if the renegotiation finally includes carriage of the three MTV digital suite channels that have been missing on most Time Warner systems? If so, when is the projected launch?

I dont know but I hope so. VH1 Soul and MTV Jams would be nice to watch sometime. I already get MTV Hits with my Time Warner Cable. If they dont add those channels and if u want them they have them on AT&T U-verse.

Bam Margera’s Uncle Don Vito Held Without Bail On Suspicion Of Child Sexual Assault

Police spokesperson says Vincent Margera appeared intoxicated; formal charges to be filed Wednesday.

Vincent Margera — better known as Don Vito to viewers of "Viva La Bam" — was arrested in Colorado on Friday and held on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault on a child, according to a spokesperson for Colorado’s Lakewood Police

Department.

Margera, 50, is suspected of inappropriately fondling or groping 12- and 14-year-old girls during separate incidents at a signing event at Woodward Skatepark at the Colorado Mills mall in Lakewood, Colorado, Friday night. Because the incident involves sexual assault on a child, Lakewood Police spokesperson Steve Davis said he was unable to release much information, but said formal charges would be filed on Wednesday. In the meantime, Margera remains behind bars at the Jefferson County Jail, with no bail being offered, according to a jail spokesperson.

Davis said a cell-phone photo of the alleged crime has been taken into evidence and that the allegation that Margera inappropriately fondled or groped the girls was corroborated by enough witnesses for police to make the arrest. The authorities were tipped off to the alleged crime when someone other than the two juveniles called in to report it, Davis said, declining to elaborate on who made the call. In addition, Davis said Margera, who appeared intoxicated — results from a blood test are not yet available — allegedly made some "very ugly" remarks to the two female officers who arrested him.

The elder Margera, often the butt of pranks pulled by nephew Bam on the MTV series "Viva La Bam," was frequently portrayed as mumbling unintelligibly and being quick-to-anger on the show. A spokesperson for the Margera family could not be reached for comment at press time.

Bam, a professional skateboarder, was not with his uncle during the signing, according to reports. Vincent Margera had come to Colorado to film promotional spots for the Web site ManiaTV.com, which broke news on the arrest. A spokesperson for ManiaTV said Margera had also been in town all week shooting material for "Don Vito TV," a reality show the online TV network is planning to launch.

"When he was finished working for us, he had another deal to sign autographs at the skate park, so we drove him over there and dropped him off and the next thing you know we got a call from [a 'Viva La Bam' staffer/producer] saying [Margera had been arrested]," ManiaTV spokesperson Jason Damata said.

One of the Web site’s reporters, Rob Talbert, spoke to Margera in jail over the weekend, according to a press release issued by Damata. Talbert described a "very serious and somber" Margera saying he signed autographs and took pictures with fans at the skate park, and 45 minutes after it ended was approached by police officers who asked him about the incident, which he denied.

"I then asked Don if he did it. He was very adamant about denying the allegations against him," Talbert stated in the press release. "He said that if he molested [the girl], why would the mother stand there and take pictures of him doing it? He then said that this is the kind of thing people like him have to watch out for. He said people are always trying to pick fights with him so they can sue him and this is the same sort of thing."

According to the press release, Margera asked Talbert if he remembered that when taking pictures with fans during the ManiaTV shoots, Margera would put his hands around guy’s necks like he was strangling them and drape his arm around girls’ shoulders and put his hand in front of their breast so it looked like he was grabbing them. Talbert said Margera would ask how old women were before he took pictures with them during the ManiaTV shoots.

S1ckH4ndsBass video #1000! IT IS A SURPRISE.

September 11, 2009 - 2:28 am 25 Comments

What is it? It’s it! What is it? It’s my thousandth video on this channel! But, you ask, what IS it? As I said, it is a surprise. What is the surprise? Why, my dear friend, the surprise is…

RB2: Spinal Tap “Cups and Cakes”, Expert Drums, FC/5G*, 18375

“Cups and Cakes” by Spinal Tap, released as a DLC single for the Rock Band series of video games on 8/4/2009 as part of the Spinal Tap’s TAP TEN Pack, and played by S1ckH4nds in Rock Band 2 for Xbox 360 on Expert DRUMS (see that? Drums! Ha ha, screw you, copy/paste error!) in Local Band Quickplay mode on 8/7/2009.

Final score was 18,375 with a 143 note streak and 100% of notes hit as a full combo for five gold stars. This is actually my second FC of this song; I FCed it once earlier than this while I was attempting to get it down, and realized I forgot to hit record on the Pinnacle. FAIL.

So, this is a milestone for me; this is my thousandth video on this channel, and it’s only my second drum FC on expert ever. What do they have in common? Both of my drum FCs have no pedal. Seriously, that’s the only thing that messes me up! I have no third limb independence whatsoever. (That’s kind of why I like the cheat in GHWT and GHSH that has autokick.) Seriously, though… 1000 videos! What the ? Proof positive I have waaaay too much time on my hands…

…or, had, anyway. As some of you already know, with the upcoming launch of the Rock Band Network, the amount of DLC available for 360 owners is going to skyrocket in the next few months. And now, I’m pleased to announce, I’ll be contributing to that growth! I’ve become an author for startup RBN developer RockGamer Studios ( http://www.rockgamerstudios.com ), and I look forward to bringing you fun, interesting, and unique bass charts in a different method than I have been for the past year and a half; by actually charting them myself. Please check out our website for announcements on artists and songs, and if you’re an artist interested in getting your songs on Rock Band, be sure to contact us. We have a full team of dedicated, trained professionals ready to help you rock the world!

My HD recording device is currently out of commission. I hope to be back up and running with a new Hauppauge in the weeks to come, and hopefully in the meantime the quality from this Pinnacle device isn’t too terrible. Thanks for your patience!

Follow me on Twitter!

I’m giving away codes for pepsirockband.com all summer long, so nab yourself some free DLC while you can.

(http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/features/study-women-gamers-outnumber-men-in-25-34-age-group/68821/?biz=1 A new study from the Consumer Electronics ociation indicates that there are many more women gamers in the 25-34 demographic than males, largely because of the popularity of the casual games market, with card games like solitaire (pictured) and puzzle games like Tetris. The CEA study found that 65 percent of women in the 25-34 age bracket play video games, while only 35 percent of men in that group said that they play video games. Apparently, the key factor involved with these findings is the increasing popularity of casual games, especially among women. “Women were found to be slightly less likely than men in the 25-34 bracket to play traditional console games on systems like the PlayStation 2 or Xbox, while they gravitated more heavily towards simple types of games like Tetris or other puzzle games and card games like solitaire. “Xbox Live Arcade already offers a number of simpler titles that may appeal to the casual crowd and Arcade’s library is expected to grow throughout the year. When Sony launches its PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network Platform service, there’s a good chance that they will offer casual titles for download as well.
“we want G4 to be “TV for the Xbox/YouTube/iPod generation
“Spike attracts a significantly older and more female (believe it or not) audience than does G4
(CSI
“we are a business and not a “public service.”
“don’t hold 100% to this definition or growth will be tough to come by.
“SciFi now has professional wrestling, Bravo has reality shows, MTV has very little “music.” Heck, even Discovery has Cash Cab and American Chopper.
“Bottom line, we will likely have programming that won’t fit perfectly…but we’ll attempt to keep it minimally “young guy” in its appeal (vs. older guy or female appeal). But occasionally, we will find acquired programming that fits well like Heroes and Lost…in the end, we need to cover a lot of hours and shows like these allow us to do so in a way that fits our brand…
“Now critics will surely point to COPS, Cheaters and Totally Outrageous Behavior and question these choices…but all bring a guaranteed rating that is critical as we continue to build and evolve the network…COPS is the highest rated show on G4 now…
“But, I’d like to point out that we still have far more videogame programming each and every day than any other network…however, we need to stay in business if we are to continue to provide programming like AOTS, daily X-Play (in primetime no less!), Cinematech, Cinematech NE, live E3 coverage, daily coverage from the Tokyo Game Show, GDC, Comicon, 5.5 hours of Halo3 coverage, the Major League Gaming Tour and, lastly, we recently brought Electric Playground back to anchor our exclusive offerings at G4TV.com. I’d also like to point out that Code Monkeys, our very first originally developed show, is about, of all things, videogames.
“For that matter, while we may not be TechTV anymore…we still cover more tech in AOTS than any other show on TV and we expanded our live coverage from CES to two days this year. While other networks did live “hits” on the iPhone launch, we dedicated an entire night to covering this piece of tech introduction.
