Can somebody help me here?

Alright, before I begin I want to clarify a few things. I am a reasonable, average person. I am definitely straightforward and practical, so what I am about to tell you is a big step forward by myself. I just need someone else’s opinion on it because of its extreme nature.

So; here goes. A few nights ago I had a dream to rival all dreams. It began as my family and I were gathered around the fire listening to the radio as an Emergency Broadcast System alert interrupted a Minnesota Twins game. It informed us that the Russian Federation had deceived our defense networks and were launching a large scale invasion. It went on to say that marshall law as to be instated and that all people in an unaffected city or region to stay put until further notice. Then I randomly moved forward to a future point in time. I was on a cold battlefield with my own rifle in my hand. As I became aware of my surroundings, I immediately was overcome with a surge of rage and anguish. As I looked down, I could see my friend ( who is also only 16 as I am ) laying in front of me with blood pouring out of his stomach. I knew he was dead. As I struggled to cope with what was occurring, a massive roar of thousands of voices captured my attention and brought me back to reality. I looked around, and everyone was charging forward to overtake a hazy ridge. As we overwhelmed the Russian forces they turned back in a retreat. As I came to the top of the ridge, I immediately recognized a city skyline in the distance, it was that of Minneapolis. It was devastated. smoke was billowing from several areas of the city and from some of the skyscrapers themselves. For the moment we had won, and we rested for an oncoming battle. This gave me enough time to go back to the hill, find my friend’s body, and give him a proper burial. I cannot express the intense sadness I felt as this occurred, but it soon ended as I moved forward in time once again. It was dawn, and very cold. US Army and Marine forces had arrived to give what appeared to be a mass of civilians the help that we needed. A siren sounded in the background and we charged forward, the city was probably 2-3 miles away and I ran along with hummers and tanks and personnel carriers. Big bombers appeared overhead, and destroyed all that lay ahead in preparation for our apparent assault to retake the Twin Cities. As we approached the city center, I could see Russians everywhere. I was directed to go in a medium sized office building with another 3 or 4 soldiers and provide sniper support. We immediately started mowing the enemy down, I was shooting as fast as I could and totally slaughtering retreating Russians. But something seemed odd. We were winning, yet our forces had begun a hasty retreat. I soon realized what was the matter. Above me appeared a massive fireball, and as soon as it appeared, all the tanks and vehicles stopped dead. I could see some sort of jet tumble from the sky and erupt into flames as it hit the ground. Within seconds, a shock-wave ( from what I think was a nuke or some type of huge bomb ) hit our building and we instantly died ( I’m assuming here again ). I then began to have flashbacks, my aunt’s rolling farm on the Fourth of July with beautiful grain fields in the distance and my little cousin running around, then my first kiss, then my history class pledging allegiance, fishing in northern Minnesota, my family at thanksgiving, and finally the raising of the American flag and a crowd of people singing the national anthem. These scenes were beautiful and serene. They made me swell with extreme pride and happiness. As I faded away, I felt so at ease, and at peace with all that I had done. It seemed so perfect, so wonderful.

And that was it. I have to tell you, I never have realistic dreams…EVER. Yet this seemed SO real and so vivid. I seemed coherent and in control, which never happens! I also seemed aware of what was going on, and the emotions that I felt…felt entirely REAL! Please tell me what in the hell is going on!?
Sorry I left this out: as I was looking backon myife, the song old country church (name?) was playing. Sorry for spelling, this was very hurried.

You may find it really is a common answer.

The interruption means there are forces in yur life that mean to make things hard for you so you cannot live a normal life and yuo have to go up against them. your friend is actually a dream of yours that dies, so you let it go properly. The twin Cities are a goal stripped from you but you are fighting to get your dream back, but domeone has decided to take it ALL away, but you do not feel that bad, as at least you made a strong account for yourself

So what’s amiss in your life?

Will HDTV still be around for many more years before it becomes obsolete, given the dawn of 3D Television?

I just read today that electronics technology manufacturers are getting ready to unveil 3D television this year, and that some cable networks, like ESPN, are already planning to launch 3D cable channels this year. I’ve just replaced two of the three televisions in my house, that were old-fashioned analog televisions , with new high definition televisions. I think it’s just now happening that people are beginning, en masse, to get rid of their old analog televisions in favor of new HDTVs. Is this going to be another situation like what Alvin Toffler described in "Future Shock", where a new technology becomes obsolete almost as soon as it is created. Or will plain old non-3D high definition televisions still be around for many more years to come?

Your question kind of makes the assumption that HDTV and 3D are two different things and they are not. 3D TVs that are coming out are full HD TVs, they have a pixel count that’s the same and whether they are plasma, LCD or LCD/LED they work the same. They will show double images switching back and forth quickly between the two, with active shutter glasses that are synced to the TVs.

It’s going to be years, maybe 10 before you will see a situation where 3D will be the majority, and old 2D HD is the minority. But even then it will be backward compatible since any non 3D TV can simply show the left or right frame at all times and everything will work normally. If 3D TV were some entirely new standard, then your question might make more sense.
